Avian Disease Respiratory

Avian paramyxovirus - Avian paramyxovirus is the scientific name for the virus that causes Newcastle disease, which affects feet/poultry. It is also known as Newcastle disease virus.

Avian leucosis virus - Avian leucosis is a disease affecting old birds. different forms of the disease exist.

Blackhead disease - Blackhead disease is an avian disease that affects chickens, turkeys and other poultry. It is a commercially important disease.

Avian herpes - Marek's disease is a form of avian herpes, to which poultry are susceptible. Avian herpes is similar to the herpes virus which afflicts humans.

Mucus Hypersecretion in Respiratory Disease-Novartis Foundation Symposium by Novartis Foundation Symposium,
A number of chronic respiratory diseases including chronic bronchitis, asthma, cystic fibrosis avian disease respiratory and bronchiectasis are characterized by mucus hypersecretion. Following damage to the airway epithelium, a repair process of dedifferentiation, regenerative proliferation avian disease respiratory and redifferentiation takes place that is invariably accompanied by mucus hypersecretion as a key element in the host defence mechanism. In chronic respiratory diseases, however, excessive mucus production leads to a pathological state with increased risk of infection, hospitalization avian disease respiratory and morbidity. An understanding of the mechanisms that underlie avian disease respiratory and maintain this hypersecretory phenotype is therefore crucial for the development of rational approaches to therapy. Despite a high avian disease respiratory and increasing prevalence avian disease respiratory and cost to healthcare services avian disease respiratory and society, mucus hypersecretion in chronic respiratory disease has received little attention until recently, probably because of the difficulties inherent in studying this pathology. Only in the last few years have some of the genes involved in mucus secretion been characterized. The recent availability of genomic sequence information avian disease respiratory and specific antibodies has led to an explosion of interest in this area making this publication particularly timely. This book draws together contributions from an international avian disease respiratory and interdisciplinary group of experts, whose work is focused on both basic avian disease respiratory and clinical aspects of the problem. Coverage includes epidemiology, airways infection avian disease respiratory and mucus hypersecretion, the genetics avian disease respiratory and regulation of mucus production, models of mucus hypersecretion, avian disease respiratory and the implications of new knowledge for the development of novel therapies.
